Labuan Liberty Port Management Sdn. Bhd. (LLPM), for the first time, participated in the 3-day ASEAN Oil and Gas Exhibition 2012 held at Labuan Financial Park Complex which ends on November 1.

LLPM, wholly owned by local Bumiputera entrepreneurs, is proud to have the opportunity to showcase its achievements in managing Labuan Liberty Port since 1998. Shown were a photo gallery and video presentation on our activities and accomplishments for the past 14 years. Officers manning our booth were seen busy providing information and attending queries by visitors of the expo as well exchanging business cards with visitors and participants of the exhibition. Business contacts that were made will be followed up with discussions on matters of mutual interest.

The highlight of our participation is the visit by Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Muhyiddin Hj. Yassin to LLPM’s booth. The Deputy Prime Minister was briefed on our activities and witnessed the official handing over of the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 (Cargo Management Activities) Certificate by a representative from SIRA/KGS to the Managing Director of LLPM, Tuan Haji Mohd Alias Abd Rahman. Tuan Haji Mohd Alias also handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Prime Minister on relevant issues relating to port development in Labuan. Also present were Minister of Federal Territory and Urban Wellbeing, Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal, Member of Parliament for Labuan, Datuk Haji Yussof Mahal and other dignitaries.

On the second and third day, a representative from LLPM attended a 2-day conference on various topics relating to the Oil and Gas sector in Labuan which was held concurrently with the exhibition. Knowledge gained from papers presented by personalities from the Oil & Gas and other sectors have certainly provided a new perspective on this burgeoning industry.

We are positive that the acknowledgement by the Deputy Prime Minister of our accomplishments and commitment augurs well not only for LLPM but also the future of the port and logistics sector in Labuan.
